The Parish offers catechism to kids aged between 5 and 12 years. These sessions are delivered by voluntary catechists, most of whom are parents residing at the Qawra-Bugibba area.
Catechism is not just a prerequisite for children to receive the sacrament of the Holy Communion and Confirmation. It also serves to lay a foundation for their Catholic faith. Unfortunately, in today’s fast paced world, there is less time for the transmission of faith within the family. School work, extra curricular activities, playing computer games and the television take up most of the kids’ time at home, leaving parents or caregivers very little space to transmit the faith to their children. While not intended to replace this role, Catechism sessions help in the spiritual formation of the children and prepare them to receive the Sacraments.
In our parish we have a high number of kids who attend catechism sessions, and there is always the need for more catechists. If you feel that God is calling you to be a catechist, speak to the Parish Priest or to one of the catechists. You will receive the necessary formation and mentoring, and it will be an experience that will positively impact your spiritual life.
